Oktoberfest!

So, let me start by first catching everyone up. I’m currently doing this whole travel nurse gig, visiting one hospital at a time, taking care of patients and getting to see the country all while make money. Score right? Yes. Well, it does have plenty of challenges BUT also plenty of up sides too. Like this for example. Oktoberfest in Seattle, WA 🙂 Who doesn’t love fall brews, and a good brat?! I’m taking up space in the Pacific North West, or as I recently learned here the PNW, until the end of this year! I’m originally an east coast girl, so this whole west coast (is the best coast?) life is all new to me. And I’ve got to be honest guys, I’m basically loving it.

This weekend we got a Groupon, which is one of my favorite ways to get to do all the random, fun things around. The tickets included admission into Kirklands town version of Oktoberfest! Kirkland is this adorable small town on the outskirts of the city, they have a downtown area with adorable shops, and great little restaurants all on the waterfront. Awesome happy hours, and they’re the most dog friendliest place I’ve ever been to. But, honestly guys, can we just pause for a moment, and look at this towns view!!

If I had this as my permanent backyard, I’m not 100% sure I’d ever leave! It’s a quaint little place that seems like a great area for a lot of young families which makes it even better. Ahh..seriously. All those boats, and that water front is heaven though.

Anyhow, what was I saying… yes, Oktoberfest! So we bought a giant mug for beer of course, and 20 beer tickets for a good deal and headed straight to the beer tent! Dunkel beer ended up being the winning choice for our first (and second) round of bier. See how I did that there, with the languages? Learning. It was dark, stout like, 10% ABV, with all those chocolate undertones, so naturally it was right up my alley.

I was surprised by how many people actually came in their German outfits. They were cute, some times crazy, but all in all.. completely over the top. Which was perfect. Of course, this festival wouldn’t have been complete without an authentic German band, some sort of German sausage, and most importantly a wiener race! Which to explain, basically was about 13 of the cutest hot dog dogs in outfits, having their own little parade. It was absolutely necessary and I’m impressed that this was actually an event created for this fest.

I’m so glad we spent our Sunday afternoon this way. If anyone knows me, they know I’m all about a great fest. It literally could be a festival for yarn that you could potentially knit, and I’d still find a reason to try to make it there! Soaking up the sun, and another culture is always a guaranteed fun day.

I feel like this city, Seattle, more specifically has so many fun things in the area to do! The weekend days of my notebook paper, college ruled calendar just on keep filling up. With only a short amount of time spent here, it only seems natural to fill a schedule to capacity and worry about sleep later, right? Well, at least thats what I’m telling myself. I leave you guys with another waterfront picture because, honestly, I just couldn’t not include at least one more.
